Forage General is a premium floral design studio based in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, specializing in high end florals for weddings, milestone events and those also important ‘just because’ moments. In addition to florals we offer in-person floral design courses and a wide variety of handmade gifts, home goods, candles, apothecary, artisanal chocolates, stationery and more.

Our Story

Jamie and I grew up in the quaint city of Salmon Arm. As is often the case when you grow up in a small town, we got married and moved away to the city of Vancouver. We travelled the world and ended up living in China on a teaching exchange for a year. While Jamie was teaching in China, I started exploring floral design and working with floral artists there. Exploring the flower markets of China, learning about flowers grown around the world and cultural traditions - it all brought so much joy. After we returned to Vancouver, I completed my training under some of the top florists in the industry - Sarah Winward, Sinclair & Moore, Holly Chappel and Amy Osaba among others, played a key role in my learning of the craft. 

Eventually, the hustle of the big city was drowned out by an increasing desire to be closer to family and raise our kids on the beaches and streets where we grew up. It was time to return home. 

While in China and Vancouver, I trained to become a florist and discovered how much I love to create memories and art with florals. After years of travelling to the Okanagan each summer for wedding season, it finally just made sense to call this place home again. 

Fast forward a few years and a global pandemic. We realized now was a great time to make some changes and do something we had always dreamed of doing - opening our own space. The one thing that had not changed was my love for flowers, plants and the unique gifts we had seen and collected in our travels  - and with that Forage General was created. 

We opened this space to create simple joys for ourselves and our customers - florals that inspire awe, vibrant green plants full of life, handmade pottery where you can feel the love and care formed into it, unique gifts from near and far, and pour over coffee sipped and savoured slowly.
